Catheter Construction: Catheter construction often utilizes PTFE Ultra-thin-wall™ to line the inside diameter, facilitating smoother navigation through complex pathways within the body. This specialized PTFE is chemically etched to enhance bonding/lamination with the outer jacket material such as PEBAX during assembly. Moreover, PTFE can be tailored into various multi-lumen configurations, accommodating additional passages for wire guides, irrigation, steering cables, and other components within medical devices. Our PTFE Ultra-thin-wall™ Heat Shrink further enhances the lubricity of wire guides, particularly beneficial in endoscopic procedures. Additionally, we offer customization options, including applying this heat shrink over customer-supplied wires for added convenience.

Fluid Transfer: Critical fluid transfer applications benefit greatly from the outstanding properties of PTFE tubing. Why is chemical etching necessary for medical PTFE tubing?

PTFE is naturally non-stick with an extremely low coefficient of friction. Sodium naphthalene etching on the Outer Diameter (OD) or Inner Diameter (ID) alters the surface chemistry, allowing it to securely bond with outer jackets (like Pebax, Polyimide, or FEP) or braid wire without compromising the tubing’s internal lubricity
