PTFE and FEP heat shrink tubing conforming to AS23053 have a minimum dimensional life of four years when stored at their specified temperatures. This feature means that these heat shrinks can be used as long as they’re expanded inside diameter (İD) and recovered wall ID remain within the tolerances specified in AS23053/11 and AS23053/12.

Etching changes the treated PTFE surface so it can be evaluated for bonding. Bond strength still depends on the adhesive or polymer system, surface age and handling, assembly preparation, process conditions and final-device validation. A quoted component should therefore define the treated surface, measurable acceptance method and packaging requirements.
