What is the main advantage of Pebax heat shrink tubing over FEP heat shrink tubing?
FEP heat shrink is a temporary process aid that must be slit and peeled off after the reflow process. In contrast, Pebax heat shrink tubing becomes a permanent outer layer (jacket) of the medical device. Furthermore, Pebax shrinks at a much lower temperature (165C -190C), protecting low-melting-point internal polymers from thermal degradation.
Can you customize the longitudinal shrinkage of Pebax heat shrink tubes?
Ja. Excessive longitudinal contraction can cause braid deformation or uneven wall thickness during reflow. Through our optimized longitudinal orientation extrusion process, we can tightly restrict axial shrinkage to within +-8% (and in some cases +-5%
What radiopaque fillers do you add to Pebax, and what are the standard concentrations?
We standardly compound custom Pebax with Barium Sulfate BiSO4 eller Bismuth TrioxideBi2O3, typically at concentrations of 20% eller 30% by weight. We can also source custom loading percentages based on your specific visual density and wall thickness requirements.
Does Pebax heat shrink tubing retain its custom Shore hardness after full recovery?
Ja. The polymer matrix is engineered to recover its original dimensional configuration without altering its designated durometer stiffness (e.g., a 35D tube remains ultra-flexible, and a 72D tube retains its high torque properties post-shrinkage).
Is your Pebax heat shrink tubing compatible with medical sterilization and bonding?
Our medical-grade Pebax resins are USP Class VI compliant and fully compatible with Stil op (Ethylene Oxide) and Gamma radiation sterilization. Its surface also bonds exceptionally well with medical adhesives or via thermal welding to other polyamides.

Information needed for a Pebax heat-shrink review
